Seeds from Iris bloudowii. Iris bloudowii preferred habitats are alpine meadows and fields. It is native to Asia. Plant gets from 20 to 30 cm tall. The flowers consist of 3 sepals and 3 petals. Iris bloudowii has very pretty dark yellow blossoms with violet veins, 5 cm in diameter, from early Spring to late Autumn. The scape grows to about 4 inches tall and bears two terminal blossoms. The leaves are grayish green, sword shaped, slightly curved, and predominantly striped. The plant spreads by means of its modified stems, rhizomes, which are located below the soil surface. Hardiness zones 4 to9. Requires a semi shaded site and moist and well drained soil during the vegetative period. Very well suited to the rock garden, and for group planting.
